floating circles

I try to stay away from fashion jewelry. Lesson learned from a pile collecting dust. Once in a while I come across some versatile ones, like this long and simple "floating circles" necklace from F21. It's lightweight, comparatively well made, and perfect for layering. Also bears a slight resemblance to the Lisa Taubes link chains. Dresses up the occasions without being too much. It's hard to be smart with buying "good" pieces, no?

the highline

Over the weekend, we stopped by the highline before getting some early dinner. It was so nice the first time we went at night that we went back for a walk while it was still light. So nice and relaxing to be enjoying the view from above. Ate some good new york thin crust pizza at Don's just across the street. No other pizza compares to new york pizza.

vision expo 2012

{held at Jacobs Javits Center}

Ok, I might be a bit obsessed with eyewear. But since I'm in the optical field I deem this normal. This is probably the equivalent to fashion shows and makeup conventions. Saw so many different, quirky, fun styles and can't believe how good they look on all the models. Especially loving the cat eye, keyhole bridges, and modern takes on the 60's 70's and 80's eye wear. Even got obsessed with the kiddies glasses which are bendable/flexible in all kinds of directions and the colors of the frames are dyed with food coloring so it is safe for the kiddie's mouths. To be honest they look like toys, having temples to be popped on and off of different desired colors. Almost every designer possible was there from 3.1 phillip lim, elizabeth&james, rayban, and tory burch to alain mikli, celine, and mcqueen. Just might be starting a new type of collection soon, if only they did not cost a fortune a piece!

clarisonic review

I got the Mia in Berry for about 4 months now and finally decided what I think of it.
the good.. This cleans my face until it is squeaky clean. I feel like it does unclog my pores, especially if I wore any heavy makeup during the week. It also gives a nice facial massage.
the bad.. Overusing this becomes too harsh on my skin. By overusing, I mean using it more than 3x a week. When I first got this I used it everyday and I got breakouts. I decided that this 'purging period' lasted too long, so I only used it once a week. Slowly increased it to 2x a week now, which gave me the best results. I didn't particularly like the cleanser it came with also, but thats no biggie.
claims.. to give "reduced appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and improved skin tone" I do notice smaller pores the next morning of using this, but nothing too major. I don't have fine lines or wrinkles so I don't know about that. As for better skintone, I think only time can tell after using this for a little longer.
"should I get one?".. I'm 50/50 on this. Yes, if you have the money to splurge. It is nice to have for those times you crave a facial massage. I do agree that this tool does some serious deep cleansing. If you already have a good exfoliation system, then I'd say no. You can probably live without it. There's a lot of exfoliaters that can substitute for this. My favorite is St. Ives apricot scrub. Hope this was useful for those deciding. For those who have it.. love, like, or hate it?

tgif

Taking full advantage on my Friday off and the beautiful weather by a bright& early morning jog. Strolled under the brooklyn/manhattan bridges at midday, had wonton noodles for a late lunch, and got some yummy mango papaya icecream. Love the perfect weather with the flowers blooming and the breeze against my legs under my maxi skirt.

hello spring!

Already seeing some beautiful cherry blossom trees lining the streets. We had some Rita's the other day and it was so nice to have icies again. So happy that Spring is here that I've already taken out these cute dainty floral wedges to wear! I love the tie that wraps around the ankles.
Slowly bringing out the rest of my sandals and giving myself some fun colored pedicures.

coral for spring

with spring just around the corner, i couldn't wait to get some color in my wardrobe. i've been seeing bright colors everywhere in catalogs and shops and i've been drawn to this bright coral color. first, i got these comfortable chino shorts from j.crew. then i found myself being attracted to the same color in this sheer, light top from zara. the color is absolutely perfect.

i'm kicking off my mini coral frenzy with mac's vegas volt lipstick, completely appropriate for today's weather and mood. with daylights savings time, the days already feel a little longer with the sun setting a little later. i'm so glad spring is almost here.

what bright colors are you guys attracted to?

Zara heels

I've been wanting these shoes for awhile now and I'm so glad I finally got them! I love how elegant they look on and how much they can match everything. I've been tempted to buy all Zara's shoes, they all look so amazing.. its hard to just stick with one pair.
